About Brighton Security Centre
Brighton Security Centre, formerly F & R Payne and Son Pty Ltd, began over 50 years ago as a small family business in Elsternwick. While the location may have changed, their identity as a family locksmith has not, as John Payne is joined by his locksmith daughter, Alison, and his wife, Beryl, who manages the store.
John joined the company in 1978 and completed his apprenticeship under the tutelage of his father, Ray Payne, and has received numerous distinguished awards since, including MLAA Apprentice of the Year in 1981, the A L Chantry Memorial Award in 1997, and in 1999 was awarded Life Membership of the MLAA in recognition of his service to the locksmithing industry.
John has extensive experience and skill in the design and maintenance of complex master key systems, and is responsible for the original design of many major master key systems in both the government and education sectors.
Brighton Security Centre has been a member of the Master Locksmiths’ Association of Australasia (MLAA) since its inception, and has actively supported the MLAA through many years of service with the Victorian Executive Committee and the National Board of Directors.
